DESIKE OF MB J. O’BBIBN.
(From Our Parliamentary Special.)
WELLINGTON, This Day,
A proposal that a 'State newspaper should be established to report the proceedings of Parliament, created amusement in the House of Representatives yesterday, when Mr J, O ’Brien (Westland) gave notivei to ask the Prime Minister whether, considering the unsatisfactory way in which of the Parliamentary business and speeches made In the House are reported by a majority of the newspapers in this Dominion, he 'will take into consideration the establishment of a State newspaper, sucli newspaper, to be under the control of a Civil Service editor, whose duty will be to give correct reports of the doings of Parliament and members’ speeches, irrespective of party.
“Such a newspaper, carrying all the Government’s advertising, would be a profitable investment for the State,” said Mr O’Brien. ' A voice; No one would read it.
