Father ‘Dignan, LIE, of Thames, whose silver anniversary is ,!.o be celebrated in the Queen’s Theatre', Thames, tomorrow, was born in the parish of Dysavt County, Roscommon, Ireland, in the year 18S0. After receiving ,the usual course of instruction al the local national school, he was sent to Du rex in .seminary Summer Hill College, Sligo, where for some years he studied the classics and Their teachers. Eater, he entered St. .PaHudck’s Ecclesiastical College, Carlow, ’and was ordained at that college by th.e late Most Rev. Bishop Foley, D.D., oh June 12. 1904, and sent to the Auckland Diocese. After his arrival iu Auckland he. /was appointed, curate at St. Benedict’s, anul after 15 mouths, was appointed curate at Gisborne, which posit Bon ho held for nine months. In 1907 he was appointed parish priest at Ormond, a country district about ten miles from Gisborne, and in 1912 was ’appointed, ardininkstrator to tlie late Monsignor 0 ’Riel'ty at Thames. He lias held, his .present, position, that of Irremovable Roc log of Thames since 191(1.
