MONTHLY. MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Horn Horn School Committee, the headmaster (Mr F. N. R. Downard) reported that owing to the abnormal weather - during May and the influenze outbreak, the average attendance had fallen slightly below 200. STAFF CHANGES. .Miss Barker’s resignation was rereceived, she having been transferred nn promotion to Kamo. Miss M. Bauman is acting im a relieving capacity, pending appointment of Miss Barker’s successor. Much gratification was expressed by members of the committee at the action of the Department, acting on the recommendation of the Auckland Education Board, in appointing an extra assistant to the school. Miss M. IT. Dwen commenced relieving duties yesterday. VISITING COMMITTEE. Messrs G, A. Bothell and F. Mogford were appointed visitors for the emsuing month. STORM DAMAGE. The grounds committee reported that during the recent storm the trolls at the infant school had been blown down; also other damage, which, in all, to repair, totalled £5. FINANCE.

On account, of the captation grant barely meeting tbe amount paid for school cleaning, the committee has been keeping going on/ a reserve capital received from carnivals, etc. When it was reported by the treasurer that after paying accounts owing, amounting to £5 325, there would be no balance at the end of the quarter, it was decided, somewhat reluctantly, that Messrs A. Burns (chairman) and D. W. Dunlop (secretary) of the Aucklan Education Board, bo approached tomorrow and the position placed before them, MINISTERIAL VISIT. The visit of the Hon, H. Atmore (Minister of Education) to the school at 10.1." a.m. tomorrow was discussed, and several matters to be respectfully brought before his notice were considered. '
