GOLF CLUBS’ GRIEVANCE
WITHDRAWAL OF HAGEN. (Australian Press Association.) (Received 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 23. The Moorpark and Blackwell Golf Clubs are indignant at Hagen’s withdrawal from matches. Compston, Hagen ; s manager, telegraphed offering a refund of expenditure in preparation for the matches, stating that Turnesa was willing to deputise.
The Moorpark Club offered to accept Farrell, not Turnesa, as a substitute. The secretary pointed out that they had sold 1000 tickets, made catering arrangements, engaged a staff and widely advertised the match.
