SERIOUS CHARGES
SEAMEN PLEAD GUILTY,
REMANDED FOR SENTENCE

WESTPORT, Tliis Day
At the Magistrate’s Court, Colin Clyde Austin and George Eden Charles Hayward, of the steamer Kaiwarra, who were remanded in custody on Saturday Inst, appeared before Messrs .1. Scanlon, and E. R. Fox, .Justices of the Pence, on a charge of rape concerning a local girl aged 17, and on a charge of assault concerning her brother, aged 15.
The offences were alleged to have taken place when, the girl and her brother were returning home from a dance last Saturday morning.
Accused pleaded guilty to both charges and were remanded for sentence by tli9 Supreme Court.
