HOTEL DESTROYED
EARTHY MORNING BLAZE. (Per Press Association. —Copyright.) TAG LANCIA, This Day. Eivp, at throe o’clock this morning, totally destroyed the Talisman Hotel, a familiar land-mark at Katikati, The license*,', Air Anderson, awakened to find the place in flames, and with Mrs Anderson, the staff and one boarder, had to escape in night attire, all of them, losing everything. Air Anderson made an attempt to got to the. safe. He succeeded in opening the door, but the flames burnt the hair off his face and lie had to escape, leaving the door open. A' heavy wind was blowing from the west and the hotel and outbuildings, with their contents, were totally destroyed in less than, an hour. No ■water was available and nothing could bo done to save the building. Had the wind been from the eastward it would have been a. serious outlook for the township. The insurances are unavailable.
