WELLINGTON, This Day. The Wahinc .mail robbery ease wa.s continued yesterday. Detective . Sergeant Tricklebank continued his evidence, and said that when the statement made by Sevan was read to Gordon, Gordon said; “The mongrel to give us all away like that” Gordon then made a statement in regard to the part he had taken. Gordon added to his statement in regard to the part he had taken. Gordon added to his statement that he did not desire to implicate any either person in connection with the theft.

Witness wont, on to detail what transpired when he went to the Woodville rapes with Detective Jarrold to interview -tlie Evans, who, he went on to show, were in possession of considerable money and were betting freely. He brought them to Wellington. Both Evans were acquainted with Bcvan’s statement and boti made statements of their own. Richard Ryan had been a member of the crew of the Wahine between January 4 and February 29, 1924. The statements of the Eyans were made separately. Further evidence was given that W. Ryan said Gordon was a liar, but admitted that some of his statements were correct.

A sailor deposed to seeing R. Ryan and two other men, whom he could not identify, near the mail hatch. It was the practice, after opening the hatch, to . walk away , and leave the mail unguarded. Anyone could have got into the hatch unnoticed.

Gordon and Bevan pleaded guilty and were remanded for sentence.

The two Ryans pleaded not guilty and were committed for trial. R, Ryan and Bevan wore allowed bail and the others were refused.
