LATE MR J.D. McKENZIE

INTERMENT THIS AFTERNOON.

EXPRESSIONS OF CONDOLENCE,

The last sad obsequies in. connection with the death' of Mr John David McKenzie took place this afternoon, an extraordinarily large cortege of mourners drawn from the Auckland district and numerous parts of the North, proceeding from deceased's late home at Hora Hora to the Maunu Cemetery. They were representative of several educational organisations, numerous local bodies, societies, etc., the tribute of respect being unusually widespread. "

Mr Richard Hoe, who Mr McKenzie formed the two northern members, arrived by the late express last night and represented the Auckland Education Board at the funeral. He was accompanied by Mr E. C. Puvd'ic, former secretary to the board, and a very old friend of deceased. Prior ito the commencement of ordinary business at the meeting of the Whangarei High School Board of Governors last night, the chairman made reference to the death of Mr McKenzie, stating that deceased had been a member of the board many years and l had rendered very valuable service in the cause of education. It was only recently thait he resigned from the board, owing to advancing years and ill-health. The chairman moved that a vote of, condolence be passed to the members of deceased's family in itheir bereavement, the motion being carried in (the customary manner.

Similarly the Management Committee of the Whangarei Cricket Association preceded its business by recording a motion of condolence in silent assent.
