PARAGUAY-BOLIVIA CLASH
CONFERENCE MEDIATION.
ACCEPTANCE BY BOTH SIDES.

WASHINGTON, December 18,
The Paraguayan Government has accepted Mr F. B. Kellogg’s offer of good offices, on behalf of the PanAmerican Conciliation and Arbitration Conference, to mediate in the dispute with Bolivia. A message from La Paz says that the 'Commander of the Bolivian frontier forces has boon ordered to halt his advance and to cease attacks on Paraguayan troops, according to the Bolivian reply to the President of the Council of the League of Nations. A later message says that Bolivia today accepted the good offices of the Pan-American Conference for investigation of the frontier conflict.

(Australian Association.) (Received 9 a.m.) ASUNCION (Paraguay), Dec 17, Thirty thousand volunteers have been incorporated into the army. Three steamers, carrying numerous forces, left for an unnamed northern destination. War preparations are in evidence everywhere. Paraguay today accepted a mediation offer by the Pan-American. Conference, stating that mobilisation was for defensive purposes.
