I EXECUTIVE MEETING. The Executive Committee of the Wh'angarci Agricultural and Pastoral Society met on Saturday, the president, MrL. W. Nelson, presiding over an attendance of Messrs Bell, Halse, Crawford, Jack, J. A. Pinlayson, Fraser, and the secretary, Mr C. P. Butler. EJECTION OE MEMBERS. Messrs M. Wakclin, W. S. Russell, A. L. Fetch and J. Graham were appointed members of the society. Various other members handed in their resignations. JUDGES ’ APPRECIATION. Several letters were read from judges at the recent Spring Show, expressing their thanks for the complete arrangements that had been made for them, and Mr R. Wright (one of the judges) offered to donate his expenses to the draught horse section. Mr Wright’s offer was accepted with thanks, ami it was decided to write to him expressing appreciation of his action and the hope that he would be present at the show on some future occasion. RIBBONS. A letter was received from the secretary of the Auckland A. and P. Society enclosing samples of ribbons which the society proposed to obtain and supply to other associations. Some discussion took place on the letter*, but it was finally decided to leave the matter in the hands of the president, vice-president, Mr H. W, Crawford and the secretary. PIG BREEDERS’ SOCIETY. The secretary of the Ne<w Zealand Pig Breeders’ Society, requested the Whangarei A. and P. Society, as a member of the Pig Breeders’ Society, to express its opinion as to ■whother members of the Pig Breeders’ Council should be pig breeders at the date of election, as conditions now stood, or whether past breeders were eligible. After various aspects of the position had been discussed, it was resolved that conditions be allowed to remain as at present.
KENSINGTON PARK,
The secretary of the Whangarei Racing. Club wrote stating that Kensington Park been left in a very dirty and untidy condition ,by the society after the recent Spring Show.
This induced considerable discussion. Finally it was moved that the Racing Club be written to expressing surprise at the tone of the letter, as a gang of 20 men had ‘been engaged on the work and the grounds were in a perfectly clean‘condition by the Tuesday after the holding Of the show. The work had been supervised and the grounds were in a normal condition. TURNSTILES.
The Racing Club wrote requesting payment of £75 due for the erection of the ; turnstiles at- Kensington Ptrk. Some discussion ensued, and it was finally decided to ask for particulars of construction, housing, etc., and that a meeting be convened of the contributing bodies making conditions for use. In the event of a meeting beingcalled,- Messrs Nelson and Crawford were appointed to represent the society, DRAINAGE. The Borough Council offered to contribute £SO towards the cost of extending the drainage to include the pig pens and the booth, if the society would find £3O. The drainage was considered to be necessary, and Messrs J. A. Fin!aysou, tho president, and Mr H. W. Crawford were appointed a committee to confer with the Borough Council on the matter, with power to act. WINTER SHOW COMMITTEE.
It was decided that the executive as at present constituted be the 1929 Winter Show Committee. '
Speaking to the motion, Mr H. W. Crawford suggested that a small -committee of three be appointed for a period of about three years to handle the finance of the society, and in this connection the following no'tiee of motion was tabled: “That- the members of tho executive, shall at the annual meeting and every three years after elect a finance committee of throe from the members of the society. iSucli finance committee shall have absolute control of the financial policy of the society. In the event of a vacancy -occurring on such comm it to, such vacancy shall be -filled by the executive. n FINANCIAL YEAR. Notice of motion was also given that Rule 4 of the society be altered to road: “That tho financial year of the society shall close on the last day of June, and subscriptions shall become due on tho first day of July provided that in the event of the Winter Show being held in duly the financial year shall -end subsequent to such date. ”
SPRING SHOW. INTERIM ST ATE AfEiNT. An interim statement of the 1928 Spring Show was presented at the mooting. The statement road as .follows: — Expenditure.—'Prize money and trophies £419 4s Od, printing, advertising and stationery £I4G 2s sd, wages £.“>G 18s 3d, judges’ expenses (estimated) £3O, general expenss £4B 19s lOd, fodder and green feed £IG Gs, freights ■and cartage £2 Gs Gd, music account £.15, entertainment and refreshments

Receipts.—Donations £l2l 'Os (id, entry fees £207 3s, gate receipts £'3ol ISs (id, trade space and privileges £B6 I Os, competitions £l.O .Is, sale of catalogues £7, balance loss £24 Os, total £761. Ids. The statement was considered to bo a. very satisfactory -one, particularly in view of the stress of the times, and it was moved that the secretary and president be -congratulated upon the lucid statement presented. The motion was carried unanimously. The president, in replying, expressed his thanks, and stated that, candidly he was disappointed, in the result. Ho had hoped that this show would have come out with a erdit balance. However, he lead no doubt that conditions would improve in the future.
