Frothblower, Mussie, Prince of Orange and Hand.stitch were scratched. Won by a head, third horse a, neck further away. A .great race. Just Nell was fourth. Red Day, Ossian and ■Arehiloen fell. Time 1.28. Plying Handicap, of 150 sovs; .six furlongs. —1(3) Aussie, 10.6, .1; (1) Nancy Lee, 8.8, 2; (8) Town Bird, 7.5, 3. Maeroom and Takutama were scratched. Won by a length and a half. Town Bird two lengths further away. Time,—Ll4 3-5.
O'haupo Handicap, of 110 so vs; seven ■furlongs.—'(6) .Cynthia N, 7.4, I; (5) King Lu, 9.9, 2; (4) To Koroke, 7.0, 3. Also started: (1) Awarere, 10.4, (2) The Lamlb, 0.0, (7) Prince Lu, 7.0. Won by half a length, third horse two and a half lengths away. Time.—l. 27 2-7), The totalisator handled the . sum of £20,990 during •,the day, against £23,112 for the corresponding day last season, an increase of £B7B.
AN INQUIRY. An inquiry held regarding the falling of Ossian, Red Day and Arehileen in the Orakau Handicap, was found to be accidental. The evidence proved that Arehiloen fell through getting on the heels of Just Nell, who was running about a lot, and brought down the other two horses, S. Tremain receive'; l slight concussion and H. Lee had his collarbone fractured as the remit of the accident.
