LIFE OF PARLIAMENT
EXTENSION URGED,
(From Our Parliamentary Special.) Wellington/This Day. Reference to the proposal for an extension in the life of Parliament was made by Mr Allen Bell in the House of Representatives last night. “Surely/’ he said, “with all the trouble we have now in disputes between the contending parties on the licensing question it is a suggestion that would give satisfaction and it would be <a very tine thing for the people and the Government. I sincerely trust that during the present session the Government will give consideration to the question, malic some pronouncement and give the House and the country some lead in that direction.” Mr W. D, Lysnar: “There Will be plenty of time for that in the years to 'Come.” “The lion, member for Gisborne will have probably gone •to Heaven by then,” retorted Mr Bell. (Laughter). “We ’want something now that will save the country a large amount of money and do away with the frequent turmoil we have under the present system.”
