INCORRIGIBLE ROGUE
SENT BACK TO PRISON.
(Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. ■Charles King, aged 39, was sentenced to six months for theft of a gold watch and chain, valued at £2O, belonging to Charles Hugo Brandstidt. Both Braudstidt and King were arrested on Saturday evening for fighting. King was further charged with a breach of his prohibition order, assanltilng Constable Slater and using obscene language. Mr J. J. Sullivan, for King, said both were drunk and if the charge against King, of robbing Bandstidt of a watch and chain were reduced to common, theft, he would shorten the procedure by pleading guilty. The police agreed and no evidence was offered. On the minor charges, Mr Sullivan said King was only four days out of prison, after serving seven years. Tlie Chief-Detective said King was incorrigible and had been in gaol nearly all his life, and he would have to go back to prison for 18 months, as lie was out on license. He commenced his criminal career in London iu 1904 and also had a record in New South Wales. His Auckland convictions were for theft, vagrancy and consorting, breaking, entering and theft and escaping from custody.
