EX-COUNCILLOR A. D. JACK CHOSEN.

At the conclusion of general business at the meeting of the Whaugarci Borough Council last night the council

went into committee to consider 71 applications received from all parts of the Dominion for the position of town clerk, vice Mr C. L. Grange, who has accepted a similar appointment at Invercargill. It was announced subsequently that Mr Alex. D. Jack, who had resigned his position as chairman of the Finance Committee and as a member of the council, had been appointed to fill the vacancy. Mr Jack will take up the duties during the week, but Mr Grange will not leave until the end of next week.
