DOINGS AT ELLERSLIE
ROTORUA CANDIDATES
(Special to “Northern Advocate.") AUCKLAND, This Day. The course proper (two trestles out) and the No, 2 grass track were open at Ellerslio this morning for fast -work and several candidates for the Rotorua meeting were galloped. Myrtle and Envoy were the first to work and ran home from the five furlongs post in 1.6 3-5. Ballymoy 11. had the better of Clams over five furlongs in 1.5 2-5. Abbey Day appeared to be going better than Gala Day over six furlongs in 1.19 1-5. There was little to choose between Corinax and The Lover over six furlongs, -which occupied 1.19 1-5. Palmares had i shade the better of Dave in a half-mile sprint in 50 3-ssec. Maui sprinted three furlongs in 39 ?-ssec. ■Semi Circle was timed to run five furlongs in 1.8 4-5. Winsome Girl -went nicely beside Valqiiette at the end of four furlongs in 53scc, Segment traversed a round, going freely, in 1.49 1-5, Nassock, Valsier, Plot, Sir Archie. Euphane, White Light and Eager Rose wore given serviceable work on the tan. THE JUMPERS. Nola Night (Meghan) jjave a safe display over several pony hurdles. Luxurious also shaped promisingly. Edifice (Sharkey) jumped a couple of ppny hurdles in good style. He was afterwards tried over a couple of the larger ones. He blundered at the first and lost his rider, but after being remounted cleared both safely.
