A WHANGAREI CASE

PROBATION EXTENDED,

AUCKLAND, This Day. (Special to “Northern Advocate/*) When Myra McKernan, a married (committed from Whangarei for sentence on a charge of obtaining money by false pretences) appeared before Mr Justice Reed today, she pleaded for probation.

His Honour said there were previous convictions for theft against the accused. The manner in which she had obtained the money in the present case was most extraordinary. “I can’t understand what the solicitor, who advanced you £7O, vras thinking about,” added thb Judge. “Apparently gave you the money on tlie representation that the property which belonged' to your husband had been given to you. If I grant you probation it will be •on the condition that fou refund the money.”
