Mr C. D. Wykes, sanitary inspector of Dargaville, is carrying out duties in Whangarei as a result of. the death of the late Mr J, S. Willcocks.
Mr Douglas MSorrish, of Whangarei, has been appointed to the staff of the Bank of Ncav Zealand at Kaikohe. He left for the north by this afternoon’s train.
Cable advice today says that the death has taken place in Sydney of fMr David McKee Wright, poet and journalist, formerly of Nelson, New Zealand. He was 61 years of age. Mr R. A. Lewis, who judged the Jersey classes at the Upper Wairoa ShoAA”, is one of the directors of the Northern Wairoa Dairy Company, and is recognised as a prominent Jersey breeder.
Among the visitors to the Upper Wairoa Show at TangiterorJa on Saturday AA r ere Messrs F. A, Jones, Mayor of Dargaville, H. Old, Government instructor to the Northern Wairoa Dairy Company, and W. Holster, of Houto.
There passed through Whangarei today Sir Aparina Ngata and Messrs H. R. H. Balneavis, Wellington; H. L. Primrose, M. Bell and W. Cooper, Gisborne. During their stay the party were guests at the Commercial Hotel.
Among week-end guests at the Commercial Hotel were the Hon, Colonel G. J, and Mrs Smith, Wellington; Mt and Mrs S. Shepherd and Mr and Mrs J. Thornton, Kaeo; Mr and Mrs J. S. Geddis, Auckland; and Mr S. Stevens, Noav Plymouth.
Mr A, G. M. Leather, a young solicitor, aged 25 years, died in the 'Northern Wairoa hospital at Te Kopuru. He Avas a prominent member of the community in Dargaville and was Ate 11 known in tennis, golf, row-j ing and football circles. He was a) member of the Chamber of Commerce j and treasurer of the Holy; Trinity;j Vestry. I
