SMITH AND MeADOO,

“WET” VIEWS DENOUNCED.

(Received 10 a.m.)

WASHINGTON, February 2,

A message from Richmond, Virginia, states that, the Smith-McAdoo feud, which resulted in the frustration .of Democratic efforts at the Presidential campaign in 1924, was revived when Mr MeAdoo today delivered a speech which was a considered attack on Mr Smith’s “wet” view.

Mr McAfloo argued that, to expect prohibition enforcement from a president hostile to prohibition was, upon its face, an absurbity. He strongly opposed the election of any “wet”' candidate.—A. and N.Z.
