IRAK OIL GUSHER

IRRESISTIBLE FLOW. GAS CAUSES FATALITIES. (Received 9 a.m.) BAGDAD, October 20. It is impossible to- stop the flow of the Iraq oil gusher. Thus far no attempt lias been made to cache the oil, which is escaping into gullies and degressions surrounding the well. Fifty thousand tons of oil lias poured out since the flow, began. The presence of largo, quantities of gas compelled most of the employees to leave the workings. Two American drillers were fatally gassed w r hile attempting. to reach a bungalow which they had vacated -earlier. - Three Arab coolies made a plucky attempt at fescue, one losing his life. The others, rescued the Americans, who, however,, succumbed shortly afterwards,- —A. and N.Z.
