Mr Randolph Rose, the well-known New Zealand distance runner, has left his farm and is living in Wellington. Mr Rose says that his future move•menits are indefinite. Mr J. T. Shaw, of New Plymouth, who was recently on the teaching staff of the Waitaki Boys’ High School, Oaniaru, has been appointed to a position on the staff of the Wanganui Collegiate School. Among the guests at the Commercial Hotel are Mr and Mrs J. W. Becker, Auckland; and Messrs R. Alexander, sub-editor of the “Auckland Sun,” C. Nicholson and E. Richmond, all of Auckland; I. Simpkin, Northern Wairoa; and C. A. Cemper, Palmerston North. A splendid success has been attained by the Rev, A. M, Yule, of Mangapai, who has won the championship at the annual Wellington Musical and Dramatic Competitions. He gained first place in the operatic section, test and sacred and second in five other sections.
