NEGOTIATIONS FUTILE. NEWSPAPER HANDS CEASE WORK. (Received 10.44 a.m.) PERTH, Tliis Day. After protracted negotiations between the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association and the Printing Industry Employees’ Union, the union refused an offer of increased wages, improved conditions, or the reference of matters in despute to a private court or the Arbitration Court. The West Australian newspaper employees declared a strike after giving the owners half an hour to come to their terms. —A. and N.Z.
