Taranaki Oilfields Ltd report that at Waiapu No. 2 the well has been drilled to 905 ft. in dark grey shale, the 12-inch easing is down to 890 ft; struck •water, which rose to 200 ft. from the surface. At the Taranaki No. 3 well the erection of the rig is completed and preparations are being made to start drilling. At Gisborne No. 1 the excavation of the site has been commenced.—Press Assn.
