Mr F. Bird, Clerk of the Court, is con fined to his bed with an affection of the throat.
Mr G. S. B. Morrison, of Maungatapero, arrived from Auckland by the express this afternoon.
The Rev. J. D. McKenzie and Airs McKenzie, of Edendale, left for Auckland by the express today. Mrs R. P. (Dick) Weaver was reported this afternoon to be in a serious condition at the Whangarei Hospital.
Mr C. 0. Knight, who underwent an operation in the Whangarei Hospital on Friday, is reported to be progressing well. Mr E. J. Davey, who resigned the town clerkship of Hamilton recently, is on a visit to Whangarei, accompanied by Mrs Davey. Mr Bell, of Kaitaia, brother of Mr Allen Bell, M.P., was amongst the passengers who passed through Whangarei today en route for Auckland.
Miss E. L. Berry, a dental nurse, has arrived in Whangarei to take up the position at the Whangarei dental clinic being vacated by Nurse Campbell, who lias received notice of transfer.
The news of the death, at Blenheim, of Mr A. H. Atkinson will be learned with regret by many people in Whangarei, where he was associated with the conduct of the gas works for some years.
Air Ale Keane, manager of the North British and Mercantile and the 1.0. A. insurance offices, left for Auckland today after having spent the best part of the week in Whangarei and farther north.
Air and Mrs L. G. Hill'left Whangarei today. Air Hill takes up his appointment as secretary of the Dunedin .Jockey Club. A considerable number of friends assembled at the station and gave the popular pair a parting cheer. Airs Hill will visit Sydney for a holiday.
The Rev. Mateno, who visited France with the Alaori Rugby football team last season, is now stationed in the Mangakahia district, and will play for the Mangakahia Club this season, W. Rika, another member of the team, will also don the same club’s jersey.
