NAVAL APTITUDE. TWO LIVES SAVED. (Received 11.30 a.m.) GIBRALTAR, January 20. Fine seamanship saved Lieutenant Burgess, whom a huge wave washed off the destroyer Splendid. Liout.-Com-mandor Falls manoeuvred the vessel to where Burgess was floating on the crest of a wave and hauled him aboard as it. dashed on to the ship's side. A cook, who also went overboard, was washed bach on deck by a succeeding wave.—A. and N.Z.
