VITAL STATISTICS

The vital statistics for 1926, as compared with those of the previous year, show a decrease in every department. The individual records are as follows, the figures for 1925 being given in parentheses: — Births, 349 (404); deaths, 115 (117); and marriages, 93 (108). . ' During' the year 25 marriages were conducted by the registrar.

The figures for December show that while deaths have increased, the marriages and births numbered almost the same as those 5a the corresponding month last year. Births rose from 27 in December, 1925, to 30 during last month and deaths from 5 to 13, while marriages decreased from 12 to 10. Last month three marriages were conducted at the office of the registrar, but in December 1925, only one ceremony of that kind took place.
