IMMINENT FRACTURE
IN CHURCH FOUNDATION. . IIcRAMENT RUBRIC DISPUTE. ! —— LONDON, June 17. The “Daily Express” says the ■Church of England is facing one of the gravest cniscs in its history. This may load to the secession of 700,000 members of the Anglo-Catholic Party and their eventual .reunion with the : "Church of Rome. Thirty-six archbishops and bishops are in daily conference at Lambeth Palace. They are expected to approve •of a rubric which has already been passed by the House of Clergy. This would legalise the perpetual reserya- . "tion of the sabrament. The Church Assembly is likely to ■confirm the decision ; of the bishops. Then a fight will begin, as the new rubric will have to go before Parliament for authority which the AngloCa'holics refuse to reeogpise. The rejection of the bill would strengthen the vigorous demand of the • AngloCatholics for disestablishment. j On the other hand, if the bill passes j the bishops will ban the service of devotion to the sacrament, which is now carried on in many /Anglo-Catholic churches, and as the Anglo-Catholic tire expected to refuse to respeet the ban prosecutions will he commenced. ,
