SELECTOR RESIGNS

AUCKLAND HOCKEY DISPUTE. APOLOGY REFUSED. AUCKLAND, This Day. At a meeting of the Auckland Hookey Association the dispute between the executive and Mr Kent, selector, reached a climax, Mr Kent’s resignation being tendered and accepted. The meeting, by 11 votes to three, had previously resolved to accept an apology and withdrawal by Mr Kent of his statement in the Press that the Association had refused an A. and B. trial match. Mr Kent declined, saying he was justified in acting as he did. The secretary was instructed to notify Mr W. Newshain of his appointment as selector.—Press Assn.
