Amongst the guests at the Commercial Hotel are Mr and Mrs G. H. Loney, Mr W. C. C. Balham, Mr E. C. Jarrett and Mr J. Brown, all of Wellington; Mr J. Osborne, Auckland; Mr and Mrs J. Morrison, Matapouri; Mr T. Martin, Dunedin;’ and Mr S. Fish, Sydney. At yesterday’s meeting of the Whangarei Hospital Board advice was received from the Director-General of Health, Dr. T. H. A. Valintine, that Dr. MacEachern, an expert on hospital work, who is making a tour of the Dominion, would visit Whangarei in the near future.
News has been received by an Auckland resident of the death of Lieutenant Frederick Kahn, one of the American aviators who was aboard the Colorado when that ship was in that port with the fleet last August. The young officer, who was regarded as one of the finest, pilots in the service, crashed while performing flying exercises as part of his duty at San Diego naval base a few months ago, the cause of the accident ’■?iug the snapping of a portion of ’’>s ’plane's structure while the -fliine was in mid-air.
