TRUTH DISCLOSED

COUNTERFEIT NOTES LITHOGRAPHER'S ADMISSION. IGNORANCE PROFE3SED. (Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, Febuary 18. Tho Hungarian banknote forgeries have again como into prominence owing to the surrender in Berlin of Arthur Schultzc a lithographer. The cleverest detectives in Germany had been searching for this man for two months. The Berlin correspondent of the "Daily ' Chronicle" says Schultze calmly walked into a police station and said: "I believe you want me."

Schultze made a statement to tho effect that he was asked by Prince Windisehgraetz in September, 1923, to go to Budapest, where'there was work for him to do He went there and was employed at the State printing works. He took photographs of French 1000 franc banknotes.

He said he thought he was engaged in legal political action, as the Chief of Police, Nadossy, apparently supported what was being done.

After four months' work Schultze said, he began to doubt the honesty of the work that was being carried on. Moreover, there did not seem to be enough money to keep the work going properly. Therefore he sought permission to return to Germany. This was refused. Finally, however, Schultze managed to escape across the frontier.

Tho story told by Schultze is being communicated to Budapest, where the official belief is held that the man was deeply involved in the plot.—A. and N.Z.
