BEHAVIOUR IN PUBLIC.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —I have tolerated vulgar behaviour in places of amusement for so long that I feel it is time someone made a protest. Several times I have attended concerts and plays held in the Town Hall, and on most occasions there have been admitted those objectionable people who eat peanuts, rattle paper, talk and generally behave more in the manner one would expect from hooligans. I often wonder why such people bother to come to such entertainments, when their only purpose seems to be to provide a form of amusement entirely their own, which seems to consist largely of annoying those around them. I write this in the hope that those who have so little consideration for others may take the hint.—l am, etc., P. DOWNING.
