LONDON, June 21,
A message from Paris states that at •the request of the Government the Chamber of Deputies, by 525 votes to 32, postponed sine die a Communist demand to interpellate the Government on the situation in Morocco. The Socialists voted with the Government. The latter have agreed to an interpellation on the subject next week. The Communists are seeking to force the issue between the Socialists and the Government. They gave notice of their proposal to interpellate today, and quoted a telegram from London saying the Riff leader, Abd-el-Krim, had made peace overtures to France and Spain through Britain and Italy.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, M. Briand, in demanding the postponement of the interpellation sine die, declared it was an insult to suppose that if an honourable opportunity for peace had "been offered, the Government would not have listened to it or would have allowed further blood to be shed in Morocco.
The vote was taken amidst Communist cries of "Liars!" "Murderers!" and "Down with War!"
After a meeting of the Cabinet, M. Briand stated that the Government had discussed the question of Communist propaganda, and had decided on a policy towards the militant section of the Communist Party.
The latter, said the. Minister, was daily corresponding with Abd-el-Krim and encouraging him to resist. It was assuring him that the majority of the people of France were opposed to a continuance of the military operations.
"Le Matin" announced that 120 arrests have been made in Paris and, the provinces, in pursuance of measures for the suppression of the Communist propaganda in regard to Moroeeo. The Prime Minister, M.
