SHOWS DETERIORATION. AUSTRALIAN OPINION. (Received 10.20 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Messrs Lock and McNamara stated that lambs and cattle in New Zealand were fast deteriorating. Producers are 'breeding too much from culls. Australia was fast gaining the world's markets for fat lambs. This was the first year in which Australia had equalled Canterbury lambs. They attributed it to better grading. It was considered that the general methods of handling the sheep industry in New Zealand were much behind those in Australia. The fat cattle were poor and they cost about £5 per head more than they did in 'Australia.—A. and N.Z.
