TREACHEROUS SURF.
TWO BATHERS DROWNED. UNAVAILING RESCUE WORK. (Received 1.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. A double surf tragedy ©eeurred at Tnggerah. John William Wills, aged 45 years, and Alice Doyle, aged 26 years, were carried out to sea by a powerful undertow, despite determined attempts at rescue by other surfers. Both were drowned. The froman's body was brought ashore and fruitless efforts were made to restore animation. The man's body was washed up later." —A. and N.Z.
