ALLOW CHILD TO DROWN. WAXGANUI, This Day. An inquest into the death of Wil-* liam Alex. Rainham, six and a halt! years of age,, who was drowned oni Saturday afternoon, was held this! morning. , ' The evidence showed that A. J"* White, a man nearly 72 years of age} and unaiile to swim, liad endeavoured to rescue the boy, but without He appealed to a number of peopltg who were watching a swimming race to go to the assistance of .the boy, but no one took any notiee and the little! chap was left to drown. The Coroner. Mr J. S. Barton, S.M., commended White for. liis efforts t# lave the boy and commented strongly, on the callous attitude of those whoi had ignored the appeal for help.— Press Assn. !
