FARMERS' UNION. The monthly mooting of the above branch was held in the hail, Opuawhanga, 011 Saturday, August 16; present —Messrs R. S. McKenzic (chairman), A. C. McCardle (organiser), F. B. Whinp, J. O'Hagan, J. M. Dempster, C. Reid. K. W. Thomas, E. li. Lervin and D. Campbell (secretary,. Mr McKenzie moved and Mr F. li. Whimp seconded, that Mr Allen Bell, M.P. for Bay of Islands, be again written to re a visit to the district. — Carried. Mr F. B. Whimp moved that Cr. L. Webb be written to r-: deviation on Teale's Hill, seconded by Mr O'Hagan and carried. Mr McCardle gave :.n address on Union matters, touching en the M a' 1 Board, agricultural NanJ'S. politic;!! action by the Farmers' T.iaon, etc., at the conclusion of which Mr McKenzic
moved :i he;irty vote of thanks to Mr McCardle, which w;is carried with applause. GENERAL. Cold, showery weather has prevailed for the pa?t neck or two,, but in the last few days there has been a decided improvement. Cows are coming in in much better condition than last year, but so far there is not over-much feed available. However, most of the settlers have a good supply of hay, which should see them over the critical period. Wild pigs have been more plentiful than usual this winter in the Opuawhang.i and Kaikanui dist'icis and fine specimens of tusks have been secured by Messrs If. /fear jnd W. Dempster. One boar shot measured over seven feet in length.
