Cold, showery weather has prevailed for the pa?t neck or two,, but in the last few days there has been a decided improvement. Cows are coming in in much better condition than last year, but so far there is not over-much feed available. However, most of the settlers have a good supply of hay, which should see them over the critical period. Wild pigs have been more plentiful than usual this winter in the Opuawhang.i and Kaikanui dist'icis and fine specimens of tusks have been secured by Messrs If. /fear jnd W. Dempster. One boar shot measured over seven feet in length.
