TWO ALL.

SOCCER FOOTBALL TEST.

CHINA v NEW ZEALAND. ,|

WELLINGTON, This -Day. The second test Soccer mateh presented the Chinese as a totally different team from the rather comical players seen here first. They put a lot more beef into their play and had learned how to attack individually. They frequently beat their opponents man for man and left them trailing behind, but they still want more combination, and some of them quite failed when it came to taking advantage of openings to shoot at goal. Nevertheless they were unlucky not to win. The* day was brilliant, with a ehilly wind. There was a large attendance.

Early in the game New Zealand had a very narrow escape, the goal being quite undefended and the ball trickling across tha front. No Chinese was near enough to take advantage? and McKinistry saved just in time. - Both sides attacked vigorously and the Chinese goal-keeper once fell on the ball in the jaws of the net with, players closing all round him. The first score was made* by New Zealand, Dacre putting the ball through from a corner shot. ' ! : I^!||H| A. Ting came into prominence by his beautiful centring and it was from a kick of this kind that Wu equalised. The first spell ended one all and for a long time there was no further score. , When it did come it was China's. For • minutes together they sent shot after shot at the New Zealand goal. The defenders could not clear and finally from another pass of Ting's Chang got home —China 2, New Zealand 1. It looked like China's game, but the All Blacks dashed to the attack with vim. In front of the Chinese goal a scramble took place which was really a loose scrummage. No one could get control of the ball, which flew hither and thither, until Danniells dashed at . it and drove it into the.net. It was the sort of stroke no keeper could have stopped. In the few minutes left there was no further score and the game ended in a draw of two all.—Press Assn.
