FARMER'S FALL.

FROM KAURI TREE. On Friday morning last John Hay, a farmer of Helena Bay, ascended-a kauri tree on his farm for the purpose of obtaining some gum. When he had ascended a height of about 30 feet by, some mischance he missed his footing and fell to the ground, sustaining a compound fracture of the right leg just above the ankle, besides injuries to the left leg and also his jaw. The services were requisitioned of Dγ Cheeseman, who ordered the injured man's removal to the Whangarei Hospital. The sufferer was taken to Whakapara in a buggy and from there to Whangarei by train on Saturday morning. Latest reports from the hospital are to the effect that the patient is doing as well as can be expected.
