CONDUCTOR'S LICENSE.
REFUSAL AROUSES PROTESTS. FROM WOMEN'S ORGANISATIONS. (Special to "Northern Advocate.") AUCKLAND, This Day. The refusal of the City Council to grant a bus conductor's license to Miss A. Russell is still receiving the attention of various women ■* organisations. At a meeting of the City Council last evening a letter was received from the National Council of Women of Xew Zealand asking "whether the City Council objects on principle to granting a bus conductor's license to a woman, notwithstanding that she is suitable both in health and character?" The Timani Women Citizen's Association also forwarded a resolution of protest against the action of the Council.
The Tim-am communication was received aud it was decided to forward a, copy of the Council's last resolution on the matter to the National Council.
