SIX VACANCIES.
EIGHT HUNDRED APPLICANTS. (Special to "Northern Advocate.' , ) AUCKLAND, This Day. Six additional assistants are required in the city traffic department. The City Council lias received no fewer than 808 applications. This unprecedented rush for engagement on the city stuff was announced at n meeting of the Council last evening, when it was decided to refer the applications to tho Financial and Legal Committee to select the 12 most likely candidates. Those selected will then appear before a committee of the whole Council, which has been given power to make the appointment.
