MERRY MOMENTS.

DANCE AT RUATANGATA,

The Lands Department employees' dance, held last Wednesday evening in the Ruatangata Public Hall, was an unqualified success in every way. A beautiful night reigned supreme and patrons were in attendance from Whangarei, Kamo and numerous adjacent districts. The hall was effectively decorated with coloured paper streamers, and together with the many pretty frocks worn, lent quite a bright and animated appearance as the dance was in progress. Mr C. 11. Coulston, as Master of Ceremonies, kept everything going with a merry swing. Several twilight dances with various coloured illuminations thrown upon the dancers were effectively carried out, and four Monte Carlo waltzing competitions were held, Mrs Beech and Misses Tlodgc and Wedge winning the ladies' competitions and Master L. Drake the men's. Throughout the evening fruit and sweets were liberally served round ;uhl a first-rate supper was partaken of at midnight, Mesdames Coulston, Phillips, Miller and Walker and Mr "Buck" Barnes kindly providing the refreshments. Miss Skcllcrn (piano), and Messrs E. Addington (saxophone and banjo), H. Fenton (drum traps and Swanee whistle), A. J. Terry (guitar and banjo-mandoline) and R. Wentworth (violin) supplied excellent dance music, Mesdames Beech and Coulston kindly contributing extras.
