HUMPHREY BISHOP COMPANY,
Considerable interest is being aroused by the announcement that the famous English Humphrey Bishop Company is coming to Whangarei on September 1, 2, and 3 next for a season of three nights. Members of the Company are as follows: —Humphrey Bishop, bass, from the Albert Hall, London; Walter Kingsley, baritone, who has had the honour of two Command performances before their Majesties, King George and Queen Mary; George Ross, comedian, from the Alhambra, London; Robert Roberts, Comedian, from the famous Stoll Circuit, London; Maurice Jaffey, the eminent Irish tenor; Harry Avondale, light comedian; Billy Tointon, the "wizard of the drums"; N'gairo Pliipson, dancer; Frank Egan, the jazz violinist; Xorman Johns, solo cornettist; Louise Meadows, mezzo soprano; Olga Dunn, contralto: Kitty Schroeder, comedienne: Sybil "Walks, petite soubrette; Lalie "Whyte, soprano; Mahana Ney, the Eastern maid, in monologues; Marie Crowther, soubrette and dancer; Doris Henderson, pianiste; Stelle

The Encore Picture, "Alice Adams," starring Florence Vidor, is a. "best seller" that has been carefully adapted to the screen and will not disappoint admirers of Booth Tarkington's novel. It is an Encore Picture, and will be screened at the Lyceum Theatre tonight. "Alice Adams," as written by Mr. Tnrkington and as adapted for the screen and directed by Rowland V. Lee and interpreted by a splendid cast. is a homely story of everyday folks, but it grips because it is presented artistically and intelligently. It will make a. deep impression upon those who want the best in screen entertainment, and it deserves unstinted praise.
