SCHOOL FAIR.
A HUGE SUCCESS. Yesterday afternoon the grounds of the Whangarei Central School presented a busy and attractive scene, the occasion being a fair promoted by the scholars fo*' the purpose of raising funds for their library, piano and sports. There was a big crowd present and the function -was well supported by the parents. The children are to be complimented on the energetic manner in which they worked, and their efforts were successful in raising a sum of over £80. Guessing competitions, chain-stepping, naildriving, candle-lighting and games were the principal attraction and inside tho school samples of the scholars' work was on exhibition and attracted close inspection by the parents and friends of the children. The afternoon tea, presided over by Misses Mitchell and Moore, was quite a distinct feature and drew splendid patronage. The
scholars and teachers deserve congrat ulation on the result of their efforts.
