Captain W. R. Patterson will leave Whangarei next Saturday for a trip round the Islands, chiefly the Samoa and Friendly groups, by the s.s. Tofua.

A London cablegram states that Sir George and Lady Fenwick will be passengers by the Maloja 011 their return to New Zealand, sailing on September 26.

Mr J. Barr, chief librarian of Auckland, arrived in Whangarei this morning 011 a two days' visit. Mr Barr this afternoon will inspect the Whangarei Library and meet the Library Committee, and to-morrow evening he will deliver a lecture on Robert Burns at the Y.M.C.A. Hall.
