BEAM WIRELESS.
MARCONI PLAN APPROVED. (Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, August 1. In reference to the agreement with Mnreonis, Mr V. Hartshorn, PostmasterGeneral, said he understood that arrangements were now being made with Australia and South Africa for the erection of beam stations as already orranged with Canada.
Replying to critics Mr Hartshorn contended that if at the end of 12 months they took over the service, which complied with all the stipulated guarantees, it would be a substantial and profitable business. He hoped that the erection of stations would be begun almost immediately after ratification of the agreement.
The House expressed approval of the agreement. —Reuter.
