RESERVOIR TENDERS (To the Editor) „Sir, —May I draft- your attention to a. question that is being asked on the streets: "Why was the opening und discussion of tenders for the, construction of a reservoir, iii.. Whau Valley don? in committee by the Council members?" Is it'true that there was a tender lower than the one accepted? Why was not the whole, of the tenders published? Were the Councillors afraid, to let the ratepayers know what they were doing? I 3 it true that the price to be paid for the metal for concrete is much higher than a metal off ered which i seqnal and even superior in strength* to the be used?— I am, etc., JAS. JACKSON. (There were seven tenders received at the Whangarei Borough Counf.il mcctingi on Monday for the erection in conf-rete' of ati extension to the waterworks reservoir' at the Whau Valley, :i f follows:—Messrs A. Discussion upoh the tenders was in committee and it resulted in the acceptance of Mr O. R. Haiti's ofifev.
