HOTEL CECIL FIRE.
DININGROOM DESTROYED.
DAMAGE ESTIMATE £5000,

Shortly after midnight a fire broke out at the Hotel Cecil, opposite Lambton railway station. It appears to have started in the kitchen or pantry and immediately spread to the dinijgroom, which was ( a mass of flames when the brigade arrived. After a struggle the fire was confincd to this portion, the diningroom being destroyed and those rooms adjoining much damaged. Underneath were bedroons, which suffered from water.
There was no confusion among the guests, but two firemen had narrow escapes from injury.
The damage is roughly established at £5000. The whole building and contents are insured in the Norwich Union. Among those living in the hotel were several Members of Parliament, who were hurriedly called from the House to look after their families and belongings.—Press Assn.
