Later reports show that Southern California was shaken by a series of earth shocks, commencing shortly afer! midnight and ending at. one o'clock. • Buildings were damaged in many towns.
The inmates of prisons' and asylums were panic-stricken. Several sections report that telephone,, and telegraphic communications were severed, while houses! were unroofed at San Bernadiiio. —A. and N.Z.
