FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE.
RESTRICTIONS REMOVED. Some months ago, owing to the prevalence of foot and mouth disease in the United Kingdom, it became neces 1 - Sary to prohibit the importation into New Zealand of animals from Great Britain. ' The Department of Agriculture has been keeping in close touch with the position, and as recent advices disclose that the disease is apparently not of an epidemic nature the Government has now decided to again permit importations subject to certain conditions which are similar to those ii; operation prior to the last series of outbreaks. Briefly, these conditions are as follows: —
No shipment allowed from any part of the country for one month from the date of th e outbreak.
For the succeeding two months shipments only allowed from/outside a radius of fifteen miles.
Provided that if animals are taken from an area free from disease under veterinary supervision for fourteen days prior to shipment, then such shipment would be allowed.
