On Wednesday, at our weekly Westfield fat stock market, we had the heavy yarding of 005 head of beef, comprising 410 steers, .171 cows and heifers, and 18 bulls. The quality generally was superior to recent sales. There was a steady demand, but no improvement in price. Extra choice ox sold to £1 2/ per 1001b; choico and prime ox, 18/ to £1 I'; ordinary and plain ox, 10/6 to 17/6; prime young cow and heifer beef, 10/ to 19/; ordinary cow beef, 13/ to 10/; rough beef, 5/ to 10/; extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £10 to £13; heavy prime steers, £8 to £9 15/; lighter prime steers, £0 10/ t} £7 15/; • light prime steers, £5 to £6 5/; unfinished and small, £3 to £4 15/; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £5 10/ to £7 2/6; heavy prim 3 young cows and heifers, £4 5/ to £5 15/; lighter, £3 to £4; other cows, £1 10/ to £2 15/; bulls, £1 5/ to £4 5/.

The sheep pens were well filled with a nice class of mutton. Competition was throughout, with values on a par with last week. Extra heavy prime wethers, £1 17/ to £1 IS/; heavy prime wethers, £1 15/ to £1 10/9; medium to heavy prime wethers, £1 12/6 to, £1 34/9; light prime wether?, £1 9/ to £1 12/3; extra heavy prime young ewes, £1 11/0 to £1 14/;' heo vy prime ewes, •£1 9/ to £1 11/; lighter ewes, £1 5/ to £1 8/9 (1935 sold). The 463 lambs which came forward .sold without alteration from hist report. Heavy prime lambs, £1 6/ to £1 8/3; lighter prime lambs, £1 2/ to £1 light fat lambs, 1.7/0 to £1 1/; unfinished stores, 14/ to 17/6.

Calves wctc penned in average numbers, values for all classes showing a •slight decline on last week's quotations. Heavy vealers brought from £2 10/ to' £3 9/; medium vealers, £1 17/ to £2 9/; light vealers, £1 5/ to £1 1(5/; small and fresh-dropped, 4/ to 16/ (183 sold).

We had a record yarding of pigs, selling 963 fats and 159 stores (total 1122). There continues to be ft strong demand for bacon pigs and values were firm at last week's rates. Porkers and stores wore lower. Choppers £1 13/ to £3; heavy baconers, £3 13/ to £4; medium baconers, £2 15/ to £3 9/; heavy porkers, £9 4/ to £2 19/; light and unfinished porkers, £1 to £1 13/; stores and slips, 9/ to £1 1/; weaners, 4/ to 7/. v * < ADDINJGTON PRICES. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. At .the Addington sale there were generally smaller yardings and a sharp rise in I both fat cattle and fat sheep. Fat lambs sold about the samie.

Store Sheep.—A medium entry and an excellent sale. Lambs were about 1/6 to 2/ a head better than last week; wethers from 2/ to 3/, and good class ewes were also better. Forward four, six-tooth half bred wethers, 27/10; four, six, eight-tooth halfbred wethers, 23/, to 25/; inferior four, six, and eight-tooth wethers, 19/3 to 21/9; good two, four, six, eight-tooth Romncycross ewes, 30/6; fairly good four, six, eight-tooth halfbred ewes, 28/9 to 30/; sound failing mouth halfbred ewes, 25/ to 27/3; failing-mouth ewes, 12/6 to 21/6; fairly good halfbred lambs, 25/8 to 26/2; ewe lambs, 21/1 to 23/4; good halfbred wether lambs, 20/ to 21/; mixed sex lambs, 13/6 to 15/1.

Fat Lambs.—A yarding of nearly SOOO. Valueg were from 9d to 9id per lb. Extra prime lambs, 31/6 to 38/; prime, 28/ to 31/; medium, 25/ to 27/9; inferior, 20/ to 24/6.

Fat Sheep.—A light yarding anil sharp rise of from 2/6 to 4/ per head. Prices were too high for exporters. Wether mutton made 6id to per lb; ewes, 4id to 5Jd. Extra prime wethers, 35/ to 38/; a few special, 40/; prime, 31/6 to 34/6; medium 29/3 lo 31/3; light, 26/ to 29/; extra prime ewes, 31/ to 34/; prime, 27/6 to 30/6; medium, 24/6 to 27/3; light, 20/ to 23/6; old, 16/ to 19/.

Fat Cattle.—A yarding of 420, mostly medium to good station beef. There was a sharp rise of 25/ per head. Primest beef made to 30/ per 1001b; good to prime, 27/ to 28/6; medium, 24/ to 26/; rough, 10/ to 15/. Extra, prime steers, £15 to £17; prime, £10 10/ to £13 10/; medium, £7 15/ to £10 5/; light, £4 10/ to £7 5/; extra prime heifers, £10 2/6; prime, £6 5/ to £9; ordinary, £4 to £5 15/; prime cows, £5 10/ to £8 7/6; medium, £3 15/ to £5 5/.

Vealers. —The offering was insufficient te meet the demand. Prices were better than at recent Niks. Good runners to £5 15/; ordinary heavy vealcrs, £3 5/ to £4; medium, £1 to £2 10/.

Store Cattle. —A large yarding of nondescript sorts. Three-year steers, £4 5/ to £4 17/6; two-year, £2 10/ to £2 17/6; yearling, £2 to £2 6/; two and two and a half year heifers, £2 15/ to £3 5/; yearling, £1 15/ to £2; fresh cows, £1 5/ to £1 14/0; poor, 15/ to' £1 2/6; bulls, £2 to £4 10/.

Daily Cattle.—Price worn slightly easier all round. Good second, third, and fourth ealvers, just calved or close to calving, £6 10/ to £11 10/; extra •good, £15; good springing heifers, £7 to £10; extra good, £14; backward springers, £2 10/ to £°. 10/.

Dalgetv and Company, Ltd., report having held their usual weekly sale of fat stock at Westficld on Wednesday, as under: — Beef. —An exceptionally heavy yarding sold under steady competition, but with no improvement in price. Extra choice ox sold to £1 2/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, to £1; plain and ordinary, 16/ to 17/0; prime young cow and heifer beef, 10/ to 19/; ordinary cow beef, 13/ to 10/. Sheep.—An average yarding sold readily with no alteration in values. No extra heavy prime wethers yarded.
