Deeiing which was found off North Carolina in such a condition that foul play was -uspecteJ. The. crew was missing. On Ap:il 11 a bottle was pieked up off Cape ITattoras with a message reading: "Deering been captured by oil-toning boa*, something like chaser." When the Deering wa> discovered all 1-hc provisions clothing and supplies had boon removed and the lifeboats were missing.
